Byzantium left its imprint in every cell of the Corfiots. A lot has been written about the aesthetics of Corfu, an island with the most ‘greener’ reputation. The palette of colors is unique. Ocher , red and indigo, green and blue are mixed and depending on the season they will transform and create new intense images. Everything is polytonic and composite and combined with the tranquility the visitor will find himself overwhelming with joy. Old Town has been named a World Heritage Center by UNESCO but this is not the only reason to visit Corfu.
Corfu city is a wonderful place to walk, shop and dine or even swim as we suggest in one of our ‘Suggestions for you’ sector of the blog. You will love the architecture strongly influenced by the ‘Venetian’ era and you will find yourself lost in the small alley streets, strong characteristic of the old city. Corfu is not a small island. It has more than 100 villages and is the area of Greece with the more villages per square Km. We have included some of them in the ‘Sightseeing’ section but we list the more traditional ones. We think that the traveller should visit some of them because when you get there you will feel the real character of the island. That is a reason we provide them with high scores in our lists.
Take your time, rent a car and start the exploration. Corfu has amazing places to visit. Some of the beaches are in the highest ranks among several travel lists (like trip advisor etc) and we have recorded for you more than a hundred to keep you busy. Find the time to walk through the traditional villages, drink your coffee in a ‘Kafenio’ and feel the Greek aura. Corfu is an amazing place and that is why it attracts so many tourists. But above all we must also note that some of them decide to stay here for ever! So enjoy your stay in the island and you can ask us whatever you like through [email protected]. We will be happy to help you.
