Kanoni (means cannon) is located in the south of Corfu city and is considered as one of the most famous location on the island. Place took its name from the cannons the French army place in the area on 1789 enhancing island’s protection. The original position is not the one you see the cannon today but further up the hill.
Today you will find, apart from the panoramic view down to Pontikonisi and Vlacherna Monastery, that the area is so closed to the airport that you can see them pass sometime below you during their landing. There are a couple of cafe operating all day where you can also have a snack. Further up there is a sushi bar, Kukutsi, and Ma Coccotte a nice bar serving great cocktails.
Kanoni is one of Corfu’s’ trademarks.
