| Suburbs of Garitsa and Mandouki used to be mainly the ‘laboring class’ areas. More than 2.000 families were living in Garitsa working as fishermen and in the factories. The area close to the sea starting from the Naval Athletic Club and ending in ‘Anemomilos’ is a picturesque suburb of the Old City. Today the majority of the Old City walk here almost every day. View is superb along the whole bay and it is really worthy to take some time, especially in the evening, and walk down the end where the ‘Windmill’ (anemomilos) is located. |
